The Role of
the Governing Body
The Governing Body meets twice each term and also operates a
system of sub-committees which meet in addition to the full
meetings. The Governing Body, together with the Headteacher,
are responsible for the strategic planning and development
of the school. They also have clearly defined
responsibilities and statutory duties which include:
-
Ensuring that the National Curriculum is delivered to
all pupils
-
Staff appointments and staffing issues
-
The maintenance, safety and security of the school
buildings
-
Control of the school budget
-
Monitoring the pupils’ level of attainment
Governors all have particular curricular interests and work
with the teacher in charge of each subject to monitor
progress throughout the year. They play an active part in
school life and are an invaluable asset.
